What is smiet?
smiet is an inbox for loose thoughts. You get a thought out of your head in a few seconds — typed or spoken — and smiet sorts it for you. No folders, tags or decisions at capture time.
Capture first, sort later. Triage runs automatically within seconds of each capture.
How it works
Capture
Type or speak on the Capture screen and press Add to inbox. Voice is transcribed on the server. Captures made offline are queued and synced when you're back online.
Triage
Each note gets one destination, with the useful details pulled out — a due date, an event time, a reply draft. A note that holds two separate thoughts is split in two.
Act
Work through your inbox: mark notes Done, archive the noise, or correct a destination. A connected assistant can also carry notes out for you over MCP.
Destinations
Task
Something to do, with a due date and priority when you mention one.
Event
Something happening at a date or time, with start, end and location.
Reply
A message you owe someone, with a ready-to-send draft.
Idea
A thought worth keeping. The catch-all.
Feedback
Feedback about a project or product, sent on through a connected service.
Where you can use it
- Web — capture and work the inbox in any browser.
- iPhone app — hold-to-talk capture, the share sheet, Siri and a home-screen widget. It adds tasks and events to Reminders and Calendar.
- Mac app — the same account and inbox on your Mac.
- Assistants (MCP) — point Claude or another MCP client at
/mcpand it can read, triage and complete notes after you approve access once. - API keys — create an
oat_key under Settings → API keys for scripts and other tools.
